let me tell you, shredding 14 years (well, more than) of accumulated sensitive papers before throwing them out is hard work. even with a working shredder.

Today I got lots and lots of puppy kisses from my friend Alison's dog Jack. He's super adorable and makes me dream of a day when I can have a dog too.

Also, I successfully installed a keyed lock on the sliding glass door. It's more complicated than you'd think.

Thanks to the kindness and generosity of my dear friend, I was able to pay for Nod's medical care. He's doing so very much better already. His appetite is up and he's putting on weight. He even tried to eat dry food today, though I think it was just not as appealing as the wet food I put in front of him. I'm so glad he's actually getting better ( Read more... )

There are some people I know who seem incapable of telling the truth. I mean, they're not always lying, but 9 times out of 10 they're either lying or bending the truth. They do some lying by omission, but most of the time it's actual affirmative lies. Making shit up whole cloth ( Read more... )

I have never felt particularly feminine. I love science and sci fi and space and technology and engineering and so forth. 'Boy' things, you know. I am happiest when my hair is short to completely shorn off. I have never felt particularly motivated to learn how to wear make-up beyond the perfunctory lipstick and eye-shadow. We're working hard to find Cosima (formerly Sammy) a home asap. She is sweet and cuddly and the other cats are teaching her how to speak properly rather than just growl, growl, growl.
